During this period, ?American industrial output nearly doubled and the gross national product rose by 40 percent? (Divine p. 720). The United States had the best growth with consumer items such as automobiles, appliances, furniture and clothing. In 1929, ?the national per capita income increased by 30 percent to $681? (Divine p. 720).Electricity was a driving force in the industries. The majority of industrial power was from electricity. The new technology was such a major asset that worker production increased by 75% and was producing double the amount of goods (Divine p. 720). The biggest of consumer goods was the automobile industry. The auto industry was building cars at a very rapid rate, but other industries were building items such as electrical appliances and furniture (Divine p.720). In 1920, ten million cars were in produced and sold. Before the turn of the century, nearly twenty six million cars were sold. ?Production jumped from fewer than two million to more than five million by 1929? (Divine p.720). By the end of the 1920?s, the majority of families enjoyed electricity and ?spent vast sums on washing machines, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators and ranges. With the advanced technology of these items, families were able to enjoy themselves more, because of the extra time they had. In addition, Radio broadcast and motion pictures became successful. The first radio show was in Pittsburgh, which became the driving force for eight hundred independent radio shows to begin (Divine p.721). The motion picture industry expanded as well. By the mid 20?s, many cities had their own movie theaters which entertained thousands of people and families. Marketing also found enormous growth as well. Advertising earning nearly doubled from 1915 to 1926. Racial relations between blacks and whites grew more hostile. Despite blacks fighting and dying along side whites in World War I, blacks still did not receive the same rights as whites. In Washington DC a race riot led to 6 deaths. In Chicago, a riot killed 15 whites and 23 blacks. Lynch mobs were murdering more than 40 African Americans a year from 1917 to 1919. Even black war veterans were murdered, some still in uniform. (Divine, 711) Unfortunately, some black soldiers fought for their country, just to be murdered by the people they helped protect. Usually the race riots involved a lynch mob of whites attacking innocent black people. However, the 1919 riots were different in that, they also involved blacks fighting back. The NAACP singled this change by urging blacks not just to demand government protection, but also to retaliate, to defend themselves. Claude McKay, Roscoe Jameson, and other black poets wrote poetry as inspiration for Blacks to fight. Basically, domestic violence offenders always feel the need to be in control of their victims. The less in control an offender feels, the more they want to hurt others. If victims of domestic violence have low self-esteem, it can cause them to stay in an abusive relationship. This can lead to serious injuries and even death. CONCLUSION Along with attempts to improve cure rate of cancer, concerted efforts to prevent the disease continuity should be undertaken. This is particularly true for the high risk population and high risk individuals. A targeted prevention in high risk individuals with high risk lesions using agents targeted to key molecules in the carcinogenesis process should have an impact in lowering the disease morbidity and mortality. Advances in molecular biology have helped to define these high risk individuals with high risk lesions and novel chemopreventive targets. In this regard targeted approach using medicinal properties of plants should overcome some of the earlier setbacks observed in cancer prevention and therapeutic research.

Giving out licenses to teenagers, who tend to make risky and thoughtless decisions, is something the country should considered prohibiting. Due to such careless actions, crash rates are much higher for younger drivers than older, more experienced ones. The increase in fatality for teen drivers may be highly influenced by the lack of wearing seat belts, and their tendency to speed more. Not only are they creating a huge risk for themselves, but also for others around them. The driving age limit in Alberta, as well as in Canada, should be raised to eighteen to ensure the safety of other citizens and teens themselves. By decreasing the rate of accidents, preventing recklessness and carelessness on the roads, and lastly ensuring that all laws are obeyed when driving, may be a step towards the right direction of creating a safer community, and more manageable society. To decrease fatality and accident rates in Alberta, the age of obtaining a license should be raised. Service Alberta states, that to begin learning to drive an automobile you must be at least fourteen, while to obtain a license you must be a minimum of sixteen years-old (Driver’s License; Class 5). Not wearing a seatbelt, or careless drunk driving are only a few that are broken every day. Teens may not realize the consequences and costs that every broken law entitles. For simply not wearing a seat belt, a driver can be fined between $200 to $1000, and lose two demerit points; where for a GDL driver only eight are allowed (One person, one seat belt). â€Å"Teens have the lowest rate of seat belt use. Novice driver’s immaturity and naiveness not only puts their own lives in danger, but as well as others. Much of underage drinking occurs at house parties, hosted by high school students. Feeling confident and in control a teenager might rush into a car, expecting nothing to happen. When in reality the police may stop them, or worse they may land in a fatal crash. â€Å"Social host laws for minors aim to reduce teenage alcohol consumption by imposing liability on adults who host parties† (Angela K. Dills). This is government’s way to prevent adults from supporting underage drinking, which leads to nothing but harm. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is also an anti-drinking and driving group, whose mission is to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime (MADD Canada). Albertans are able to see that teens break laws more readily than older, more experienced driver, which is why the driving age should be raised to a more respectable one. Therefore, a consensus should be made among the nation, to raise the driving age to eighteen. Not only will there be a dramatic decrease in accidents, but also a greater care and sense of responsibility on the roads. Lack of speeding and being more considerate about wearing seat belts, may greatly increase the chances of survival while driving. Not only should personal safety precautions be considered, but also the effects of multitasking. As discovered earlier, multitasking is an acquired skill that develops at an older age, which increases a driver’s safety and compatibility on the roads. More careful driving skills tend to be associated with maturity, which is also tends to be associated with safe alcohol use. Operational security Working Title Essay

Operational security is an extremely important part of our everyday lives while in a deployed enviroment. This fact is amplified that much more when the deployment includes being stationed in a country where the enemy could go undetected, as our foes do not wear a uniform. In a war where there is no front, and as part of our out reach with the citizens of the country that we are occupying, it would be incredibily easy for our enimes to merge themselves into our everyday dealings. With that knowledge, it becomes ever more imnportant to maintain a hold of items that could easily be aquired by our foes. These items include papers, documents, unlocked computers, and identification cards. If left unattended or unacounted for, a potential for a security breach is very likely. With a breach of security the enemy could potentially obtain information that could lead to getting a step up on our forces, and in a worst case scenario beconme directly responsible for the death of military personnel. Likewise is true for the misplacement of the militraty identification card. If left in the wrong hands, the identification card presents an oppurtunity for frodulent entry, and/or duplication. In some replications of military identification cards, detection can be difficult, if not impossible to untrainned persons. Due to the difficulty of detection, and the relative ease in which someone can obtain United States militray uniforms, it would be all too easy to impersonation a service memember. This could lead to all sorts of additional security problems. History has been laced with examples of people mascurading about in uniforms, doing all sorts of damages to their opposition. When an infringment of opperational security occurs, it is made that much more severe when the infraction goes unreported. Being blindsided by such a potentially devestating situation adds to the damages that could become of such an incident. Without the knowledge of a situation being out to the proper channels, it prevents proper preperation in case the infringment would turn out to become something more than a simple mistake; and transforms into a full scale disaster of an occurance. The easiest solution to preventing an unprepared operational security hit, aside from maintaining proper operational security is by reporting the incident as soon as it becomes known and by not obstructing any inquires made into the infraction. If the knowledge of an unintentinal security breach is made aware to the proper channels, the necesary steps in prevention can occur. Being prepared helps to reduce significant amounts of damages that can be done if left otherwise unprepared, and unknowledgable of any of the specifics of the nature of the breach of security. With that being said, it is without a doubt not the best course of action to keep such things ‘in-house’, or attempt to ‘cover up’ infrindgments of opperational security. By attempting to cover up an event as significant as an operational security breach, one can also infrindge on the Army Values. The army values are a guide line for behavior and conduct. As follows are the defenition of each values and a brief description as how each are affected by attempted cover ups; Loyalty Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and other soldiers. Be loyal to the nation and its heritage. By not reporting critical information, one is indirectly being disloyal to his fellow troops. Withholding information also shows a lack of faith in anyone who could be in a position to aid in the dilema. Another element of loyalty comes from our individual loyalty to the greater good of our Army and our country. Rensis Likert said â€Å"The greater the loyalty of a group toward the group, the greater is the motivation among the members to achieve the goals of the group, and the greater the probability that the group will achieve its goals.† This is true in the Army today.
