The Economic Outlook for Jamaica 2012-2014 The Jamaican economy is based on the free market model, and has few restrictions on trade, investment and movement of currency. The major productive sectors over the years have included tourism, mining, agriculture, information technology telecommunications, manufacturing and the entertainment sector. Jamaica’s economy is presently very dependent on services, according to the CIA world fact book report of 2010, with it accounting for more than sixty (60%) of GDP. The country is also highly indebted and has a debt to GDP ratio of over 120%, indicating that based on Jamaica’s GDP it is extremely difficult for the country to pay off its increasing debt. Moreover the country highly depends on im ports for food, clothes, other consumer goods, industrial supplies, and also fuel which will have serious implications for Jamaica in the future. The Jamaican economy is at present heavily dependent on imported fuel and being a net importer of fuel the country is therefore susceptible to the instability of the world oil market - both in terms of supply and the price of oil. Jamaica is now trying to pick up the pieces and move forward after suffering from the global economic crisis. Unfortunately looking ahead the future does not seem to have a very positive outlook. There is a looming oil crisis forecasted to affect the global economy approximately in the period 2014-2015, signs of which are already present in 2011, for instance, looking at the crisis in Egypt it is a concern of many that this may have an impact on oil prices. Egypt may not be a major producer of oil but rather is a major transporter of this extremely significant world resource. Throughout the short story, â€Å"A Good Man Is Hard to Find,† a grandmother goes on vacation in Florida with her son and his family. She is wary of an escaped criminal who may possibly be there, but no one takes her worry into consideration. The family eventually comes face to face with the criminal and lose their lives because of it. In â€Å"A Worn Path,† an elderly woman begins a long and tiresome journey in an effort to reach a town to acquire medicine for her sick grandson. The stories â€Å"A Good Man Is Hard to Find,† written by Flannery O’Connor, and â€Å"A Worn Path,† by Eudora Welty, have distinctly different writing styles that impact the story and how they utilize certain literary devices throughout them. Many staff feel that they should be allowed to use their mobile phones while on shift for emergencies and to assist in their work. 5. 3 Describe how issues of public concern have altered public views of the sector The public concern on the use of mobile phones while staff are on duty have altered, as the public are more cautious of the carers looking after residence. They feel that there should be stricter guidelines and plenty for the miss use of mobiles, thus protecting the residence. 5. 4 Describe recent changes in service delivery which have affected own area of work My employer above public concern put in place a mobile phone policy, it states that staff are not allowed to used their mobile phones while on duty, exempting emergencies. There will be disciplinary action if found using one and instant dismissal if found taking a picture. The Department of Health have made available a grant for dementia homes, this grant has enabled the care home I work in to make modifications to help create an environment to help the residents with dementia reduce anxiety, distress and help people feel safe. My employer has done this by making the main recreational rooms in the home open plan so residence can always see staff. Reducing the chance of residents becomes distressed as they think there lost. My employers have also made the entire flooring one colour in the halls so the residents could distinguish these from their rooms, large photos of local scenes from the past to prompt people’s memories and making the decor calming colours.

This results in the establishment of complex systems that industry has labeled supply chains or supply networks. Supply chains are not new; they have been around as long as the market place. Historically, however, each supply chain link tended to regard its role as satisfying the demand of its immediate customer. A more holistic view point suggests that each is just a part of a wider supply chain system whose role is to satisfy end customer demand. This refocusing of the company roles in terms of end customer satisfaction is in line with a systems thinking approach to management. From a conceptual viewpoint, one could view the ideal supply chain as a pipeline with laminar flow. Traditionally, most supply chains simply evolved rather than being designed. This fact makes supply chains susceptible to turbulence.
